JCD leader murder: Hartal in Mirsarai Sunday

BNP will enforce dawn-to-dusk hartal in Mirsarai upazila of Chittagong on Sunday protesting the murder of the upazila convener of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) last night.
The announcement came this morning from a protest rally organised by the local BNP and its associate organisations following a procession at the upazila headquarters, reports our Chittagong correspondent.
As a large portion of Mirsarai upazila is situated on the Chittagong-Dhaka highway, road communication on the highway may be hampered on Sunday, locals said.
Contacted, Nurul Amin, convener of Mirsarai upazila unit BNP, told The Daily Star that they had called the strike protesting the murder and also police’s “inaction” to arrest the killers.
He held local Awami League men responsible for the murder.
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Adil Mahmud Chowdhury, 35, was killed by unidentified persons at Mirsarai upazila last night.
He was having tea at a tea stall in Bhorer Bazar area of Shayerkhali union around 9:30pm when a gang of six to seven pounced on him and chopped him to death.  Adil, convener of Mirsarai unit JCD, died on the spot.
